i've done my due diligence...my civic duty...actually, i did it real early this morning...before my coffee had kicked in good...aside from the usual dreary weather that accompanies Election Day (coincidence? i think not), everything went like clockwork...
so i've jotted down some election related digital ephemera that may be of interest...like this article on the political allegiances forged with Afr. Amer. voters, this piece about confusion and voting irregularities in metro Atlanta polling places (for real? no?), this one about Big Brother casting a watchful glance as you cast your ballots, and this collection on Black Box Voting regarding the machines that many of us have been/will be casting our ballots on....
with all of the aforementioned, it's no wonder that voter turnout is still abysmally low in the worlds "Greatest Democracy"™...however, history has shown us that when the people maligned and neglected (not to mentioned beaten and murdered), civic duty looks a lot like a like a chore, and sounds like a romantic notion...which, i suppose, it is...but we all gotta believe in somethin...
the possibility of change can be an intoxicating thing...and we're gonna have to settle for that instead of revolution, 'cause let's face it...Americans ain't gonna revolt for jack...except if the local Wally World runs out of Extreme Conniption Fit Elmo™ ,then there'll be hell to pay....but political corruption, astronomical national debt, and a mounting death tolachieveded behind a lie all get a pass because "he/she understands my values" (so, of course i'm gonna vote for 'em)...
...maybe the people will prove me wrong? that would be cool...
